Windows Security Configurations

Securing Windows desktops is the most challenging task for an administrator. Windows Security Configurations, such as XP Firewall settings, Security policies, etc., helps to protect the Windows desktops from various security threats. The required systems can be configured individually or mass configuration can be done to systems in OUs, Domains or Sites.

Security Policies Configuration

Security Policies configurations allow administrators to enable, disable, or leave Windows restrictions unconfigured for users and computers. Supported categories include Active Desktop, Control Panel, Explorer, Network, System, Task Scheduler, Windows Installer, Start Menu and Taskbar, and Microsoft Management Console. These policies can restrict Control Panel features, remove Task Manager, manage Start menu options, control desktop settings, and apply other Windows restrictions. Refer to Security Policies to view all available security policy categories.

Alerts Configuration

Warn users about password expiry and less disk space to enable users to act on them.

Firewall Configuration

Enable XP Firewall and configure exceptions in Windows XP machines to secure the machine from unauthorized access.

Certificate Distribution

Using this configuration, you can distribute certificates such as SSL Certificates for browsers, AD CA Root Certificates to authenticate users on your WiFi network, etc.

Secure USB devices

The Secure USB configuration is used for both users and computers to block or unblock the usage of USB devices. This configuration is applicable to users irrespective of the computers they use.

For more details on every Configuration, refer to the respective Windows Configurations topic in the online help.
