# Overview Digital Employee Experience (DEX) in Endpoint Central provides real-time monitoring and analysis of endpoint experience metrics across managed devices. It measures the quality of experience on each endpoint and enables IT administrators to detect, investigate, and respond to experience issues. ## How DEX Works A lightweight component is added to the Endpoint Central agent on managed devices. This component extends the agent's existing data collection to gather endpoint experience metrics. Please refer to the [agent footprint documentation](https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/help/device-onboarding/agent-footprint.html) for details about the footprint of this lightweight agent component. The collected data is processed to compute a DEX Score for each device and to generate experience insights across the managed fleet. Administrators can monitor experience health through the DEX dashboard, configure alerts for when metrics cross defined thresholds, and use sensors to collect custom telemetry beyond the predefined metric set. Workflows allow automated responses to be triggered based on experience conditions. ## Key Capabilities | Capability | Description | |---|---| | DEX Score | Calculates a 0 to 100 experience score per device from performance, stability, responsiveness, and application health metrics | | Insights and Recommendations | Identifies experience issues across the device fleet and provides remediation recommendations | | Alerts | Generates notifications when device experience drops below configured thresholds | | Sensors | Collects custom telemetry from endpoints for extended experience tracking and event-based actions | | Workflows | Executes remediation actions automatically when experience conditions are met | | Dashboards | Provides a unified, real-time view of endpoint experience metrics, enabling IT teams to monitor, analyze, and act on key insights at a glance | | Extensions | Provides access to a prebuilt library of sensors, remote actions, workflows, and dashboards | ## Licensing DEX is available as a paid add-on to Endpoint Central. The add-on must be purchased separately from the base Endpoint Central license. Pricing is based on the number of devices purchased. **Free Edition:** Endpoint Central's Free edition includes the DEX add-on for up to 25 devices at no additional cost. **Paid Add-on:** For organizations managing more than 25 devices, the DEX add-on is licensed based on the number of devices, in addition to the existing Endpoint Central subscription. **30-Day Free Trial:** Try the DEX add-on free for 30 days before deciding whether to purchase it. To start your trial, go to **Admin > Global Settings > DEX Manager** and select **Enable Trial**. **Notes:** 1. When the trial ends for an organization using Endpoint Central Free Edition, DEX remains available under the Free Edition for up to 25 devices. 2.
