# Remove underscore character from hostname/FQDN **Note:** If the hostname or FQDN is used elsewhere in your network, ensure to make relevant changes after you’ve removed the underscore from the hostname. For instance, make necessary changes to the distribution server or secure gateway server. ## Description As per security standards, there is a stricter validation in place to remove the underscore character from the hostname/FQDN. If the character is not removed from either your hostname or FQDN, you will no longer be able to access the Endpoint Central console. ## Steps to change the hostname/FQDN Follow these steps if you are using a local account: 1. Open the **Run command** window by pressing **Windows Key + R**. 2. Type **sysdm.cpl** and press Enter. 3. Click on the **Change** button to rename the computer. 4. Click on **OK** and reboot your device when prompted. ### To change the computer name in the Settings app 1. Open **Settings** and click on the **System** icon. 2. From the left panel, click **About**. 3. Under **Device Specifications**, click on **Rename PC**. ## Steps to update the NAT address using Endpoint Central By default, the NAT address will be the same as the FQDN. If you want a different NAT address, make the necessary changes to the NAT address in your network. After changing it, follow the steps below to update the NAT address in Endpoint Central: From the Endpoint Central console, navigate to: **Admin tab -> Server Settings -> NAT settings** Update the new address accordingly. You’ve successfully changed your hostname/FQDN. **Note:** When there is a change in the hostname, ensure that the Endpoint Central server is reachable via the IP address for hassle-free agent-server communication. Also, if you have an existing certificate with an underscore character in the hostname, ensure you obtain a new certificate for the updated hostname.
