Installing and Uninstalling Service Packs


 

Upgrades are for EventLog Analyzer is available periodical or on request. For more information on Service Pack upgrades, look up Download EventLog Analyzer Service Pack.

Installing EventLog Analyzer - Service Pack

The procedure is common for both Windows and Linux OSs

 

The EventLog Analyzer Service Packs download is available as a PPM file at the URL given below:

Download the Service Pack (PPM file).

 

Follow the instructions given below to install the Service Pack

  1. Shut down EventLog Analyzer server. (If EventLog Analyzer is running as a service, stop the service also).
  2. Wait and ensure that the server/service is terminated completely.
  3. Take a backup of the existing EventLog Analyzer database by creating a ZIP file of the contents of <EventLog Analyzer Home>/mysql/data directory and save it as mysql_backup.zip in the <EventLog Analyzer Home> directory.
  4. Execute the UpdateManager.bat (for Windows) or UpdateManager.sh (for Linux) file present in the <EventLog Analyzer Home>/bin directory.
  5. Click Browse and select the .PPM file that you have downloaded.
  6. Click Install to install the service pack. This may take several minutes depending on the amount of data that needs to be migrated, so please do not terminate the procedure prematurely.
  7. Wait until the service pack is fully installed.
  8. Click Close and then click Exit to exit the Update Manager tool.
  9. Start the EventLog Analyzer server.
Note Note: If EventLog Analyzer has been installed as a root user in a Linux machine, you have to continue with the procedure logged in as a root user only.

 

This will install EventLog Analyzer Service Pack on the respective installation/machine.

Uninstalling EventLog Analyzer - Service Pack

The procedure is common for both Windows and Linux OSs

 

Follow the instructions given below to uninstall the Service Pack

  1. Shut down EventLog Analyzer server. (If EventLog Analyzer is running as a service, stop the service also).
  2. Wait and ensure that the server/service is terminated completely.
  3. Take a backup of the existing EventLog Analyzer database by creating a ZIP file of the contents of <EventLog Analyzer Home>/mysql/data directory and save it as mysql_backup.zip in the <EventLog Analyzer Home> directory.
  4. Execute the UpdateManager.bat (for Windows) or UpdateManager.sh (for Linux) file present in the <EventLog Analyzer Home>/bin directory.
  5. The installed Service Packs are listed in the Update Manager screen. Select the Service Pack to be unistalled.
  6. Click Uninstall to uninstall the service pack. This may take several minutes depending on the amount of data that needs to be migrated, so please do not terminate the procedure prematurely.
  7. Wait until the service pack is fully uninstalled.
  8. Click Close and then click Exit to exit the Update Manager tool.
  9. Start the EventLog Analyzer server.

This will uninstall the selected EventLog Analyzer Service Pack on the respective installation/machine.

Installing Service Pack in Linux OS in console mode

To install the Service Pack in console mode, you have to run the Update Manger in console mode.

Follow the steps given below to run UpdateManager (to install Service Pack) in console mode:

  1. Edit the UpdateManager.sh file under <>/bin directory.
  2. Change the following line

$JAVA_HOME/bin/java -Xmx100hm $JAVA_OPTS -Dtiertype=BE -Dtierid=BE1 com.adventnet.tools.update.installer.UpdateManager -u suarver/default/conf $*

into

$JAVA_HOME/bin/java -Xmx100hm $JAVA_OPTS -Dtier-type=BE -Dtier-id=BE1 com.adventnet.tools.update.installer.UpdateManager -u server/default/conf -c $*

  1. Save and execute the UpdateManager.sh file.
  2. Give the absolute file name to install the patch.
