Installation of Exchange Reporter Plus

To install ManageEngine Exchange Reporter Plus:

• Download the latest EXE file (ManageEngine_ExchangeReporterPlus_<version>) from this website.
• Follow the InstallShield Wizard to complete the installation of Exchange Reporter Plus.

Installing Exchange Reporter Plus as an application with the InstallShield Wizard

• Double-click the downloaded EXE file (ManageEngine_ExchangeReporterPlus_<version>) to start the Exchange Reporter Plus installation wizard. Click Next.

  

• Review the License Agreement page for given application setup, then select Yes.
• Choose a Destination Location for Exchange Reporter Plus, and click Next. By default the product gets installed at: C:\Program Files\ManageEngine\Exchange Reporter Plus.

  

• The default web server port (8181) is automatically loaded. You can also choose to run Exchange Reporter Plus on a different port number by changing the port number displayed in the Port field.
• Click Next.
• Select a Program Folder from the list, and click Next.

  

• Complete the registration process (optional) to receive free technical support from our product experts, and then click Next.
• Review the settings, and then click Next → Finish, to begin the installation.

  

  

• Double-click the Exchange Reporter Plus desktop icon to launch the client in your default web browser (console mode).

Installing Exchange Reporter Plus as a service

• Click on Start.
• Search for Exchange Reporter Plus → Install Exchange Reporter Plus Service.

  

• When you click on Install Exchange Reporter Plus Service, it will bring up the following user interface. Please provide the credentials of a user who has administrative privileges on the local machine where the product is installed.

  

• Once the Exchange Reporter Plus service is installed you can start the product as a Windows service.

When Exchange Reporter Plus is started in Windows Server 2003 machines with a firewall enabled, Windows may pop up security alerts asking whether to block or unblock the following programs:

1. mysqld-nt-Databaseserver
2. Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary - Java

Choose to unblock these programs.

Enter default credentials to be used for data collection:

Exchange Reporter Plus gathers information from Exchange Server, the Office 365 tenant, Skype for Business Server, and other data sources like Active Directory, Message Tracking Logs, and Outlook Web Access Info (IIS) Logs. The credentials provided while adding Exchange Server, an Office 365 tenant, or Skype for Business Server will be used as the default credentials for data collection from these sources. These credentials should have certain privileges as outlined below.

Privileges required for gathering data

To collect data without issue, you must provide the user account (specified in above step) with the necessary roles as outlined below:

Exchange Server: Reporting, auditing, and monitoring	The user account must be a member of the: Domain Admins group Organization Management group
Exchange Online: Reporting and auditing	The user account must have a: Global Administrator role Global Reader role Security Reader role
Skype for Business Server: Reporting	The user account must be a member of the: CsAdministrator or CsViewOnlyAdministrator group

The user account used for data gathering should have the roles as above, if not, check the below privileges needed for gathering data table and provide the appropriate permissions.

Data to be gathered	Privilege needed for gathering data
Comprehensive data about the Exchange organization and Exchange servers	Administrator credentials possessing appropriate permissions (including those given in the below rows)
Mailbox data	Exchange View only administrator (who has an individual mailbox in the organization). The mailbox from which data is collected should not be hidden from the Global Address List (GAL)
Mailbox content data	Any valid user credential with send as and full access permissions on the mailboxes, about which information is to be gathered
Exchange traffic/Outlook web access log files	Any valid user credential with read access to the log file on remote share
Public folder properties and public folder content data	Any valid user credential with read access to public folders, about which information is to be gathered
