About Event ID 1053:

ActiveSync is a protocol using which external devices such as mobile phones can be connected to your Exchange organization’s network. Event ID 1008 indicates that the ActiveSync device has faced an exception associated with device connectivity, but will attempt to re-establish the connection,and update all the details during the next sync activity. It is vital to monitor the connectivity because throwing of an exception can point to possible syncing issues or device failure which you will want to avoid.

Exchange Reporter Plus is a reporting, monitoring and change auditing tool for Exchange servers, Exchange Online and Skype for Business servers. This tool helps you to monitor ActiveSync connectivity continuously and keeps you updated about any errors or points of caution.

Steps to access Active Sync reports:

  1. Go to the Reports tab on the top pane.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Server > OWA & ActiveSync > ActiveSync General Reports or ActiveSync Requests Reports.
  3. Choose a suitable report as you require.
  4. Enter the name of the organization.
  5. Click on Generate Now.

Steps to fetch monitoring report to check ActiveSync connectivity:

  1. Go to the Monitoring tab on the top pane.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Server > Server Monitoring.
  3. Choose the ActiveSync Connectivity report from the list of reports.
  4. Enter the period and type of view for report generation.

Look for the errors and exceptions in the generated report. You can analyze the description and take necessary steps to rectify them. Exchange Reporter Plus sends real-time information about the alerts triggered via email and SMS notifications. Alerts triggered are also categorized and displayed in the tool's dashboard.
