Event ID 1053: ActiveSync profile issue

Event ID 1053
Category MS Exchange Active Sync.
Sub category Device permissions.
Description Exchange Active Sync device cannot create profile under the Active Directory.
Probable cause Access may be denied to the users because of insufficient permissions.

About Event ID 1053:

ActiveSync protocol is used to connect external devices such as mobile phones to your Exchange organization’s network. Event ID 1053 indicates that the devices trying to connect are not able to create a container in Active Directory because of lack of permission. To fix this error, you have to access Active Directory Users and Computers console and add the required permissions in the Security tab under Advanced Features. Exchange Reporter Plus is a reporting, monitoring and change auditing tool for Exchange servers, Exchange Online and Skype for Business servers. This tool offers many reports on Active Sync such as policy details, sync settings, device summary, application status, and more. Apart from the reports, you can configure the product to monitor ActiveSync connectivity.

Steps to access Active Sync reports:

  1. Go to the Reports tab on the top pane.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Server > OWA & ActiveSync > ActiveSync General Reports or ActiveSync Request Reports.
  3. Choose a suitable report for your requirements.
  4. Enter the name of the organization.
  5. Click on Generate Now.

Steps to fetch monitoring report to check ActiveSync connectivity:

  1. Go to the Monitoring tab on the top pane.
  2. Navigate to Exchange Server > Server Monitoring.
  3. Choose the ActiveSync Connectivity report from the list of reports.
  4. Enter the period and type of view for report generation.

Look for the errors and exceptions in the generated report.
