Proxy Server Configuration in OS Deployer
Technology is moving forward towards the retention of an enterprise's privacy. Proxy servers are designed for this purpose. They act as a protective bridge between the enterprise and the Internet, creating a secure tunnel that allows IT admins to establish an authenticated mode of communication to deploy patches.
The Central Server requires a connection to the internet in order to perform the following operations:
- Synchronize latest patch details
- Automatically fetch computer warranty details
- Manage mobile devices
The Central Server periodically updates the vulnerability database with the Central Patch Repository hosted in Zoho Corp.'s site. An internet connection is required to fetch warranty details and manage mobile devices. If you want to manage mobile devices, you must configure the proxy to allow connections to the internet. You can choose one of the methods mentioned below:
Direct Connection to Internet
- Navigate to the Admin tab.
- Under Patch Settings, click Proxy Settings. This opens the Proxy Settings page.
- Select the Direct Connection to the Internet option and click OK.
HTTP Proxy Configuration
- Navigate to the Threats & Patches tab.
- Under Settings, click Proxy Settings.
- Select the Manual Proxy Configurations option and specify the proxy host, port, username, and password of the HTTP proxy.
- Click OK to save the configuration.
No Connection to Internet
You can choose this option if your Central Server does not have an internet connection or if the server is located in a closed network such as a DMZ.
Automate Proxy Configuration
Using this option, you can automate proxy configuration using a script. All the required specifications can be customized in a script, and the Proxy PAC URL can be specified. You will have to provide authentication details for configuring the proxy.
