# Getting started with OS Deployer **Last Updated On**: 16 Apr 2026 **7 minutes read** Welcome to **ManageEngine OS Deployer** - an easy-to-install, ready-to-use product that automates OS imaging and deployment. Double-click the ManageEngine OS Deployer icon from the desktop. 2. Select **Start** --> **Programs** --> **ManageEngine OS Deployer** --> **Start OS Deployer**. Starting the OS Deployer automatically launches the client in the default browser. **Note** When OS Deployer is started in Windows XP / Windows 2003 machines with firewall enabled, Windows will pop up security alerts asking whether to block or unblock the following programs: - Postgres - Database server - Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary - Java You should unblock these programs to start OS Deployer. ## Starting OS Deployer Client 1. Open a JavaScript-enabled web browser (for example, Internet Explorer). 2. Type **http://localhost:8020** OR **http://Host Name:8020** in the address bar and press **Enter**. Note: By default, OS Deployer runs on port 8020. 3. In the login page, enter a valid user name and password. This provides authenticated access to OS Deployer. By default, the user name and password are **admin** and **admin** respectively. 4. Click **Login**. 5.
