SharePoint storage trend reports

SharePoint storage fills up faster than most admins expect. Every file version is stored as a full copy, and with major and minor versioning both enabled by default, a single active document library can accumulate hundreds of versions without anyone noticing.

Site Storage Growth Trends  

The Site Storage Growth Trends report compares initial storage and final storage across a selected period to derive a growth rate per site collection. This answers the question that current utilization figures alone cannot: not just how full each site is but how fast it is filling.

Monthly Storage Trends  

The Monthly Storage Trends report breaks storage and file count changes down month by month for a selected site collection. Where the Site Storage Growth Trends report compares two defined snapshots, this report surfaces the shape of the trend in between: seasonal cycles, acceleration in specific months, and the month-over-month record that makes this analysis actionable for infrastructure and finance teams.

Storage by Version Age  

Surfaces storage consumed by file versions older than a defined number of days across every site collection. The version size and percentage used figures per collection make it immediately clear which sites are carrying the most age-based version bloat relative to their total storage footprint.

Storage by Version Count  

Displays the storage consumed by versions beyond the specified number of most recent versions retained per file, helping you estimate the potential storage reduction before applying a version limit.
