Patch Installation - "Fatal Error during Installation"
Problem
You are trying to install patches but you get an error message - "Fatal Error during installation".
Cause
This may be due to the following reasons
- Application is running in the background during installation. Eg : Deploying Google Chrome patch when Chrome processes are running on the client machine.
- Errors specific to some patches.
Resolution
Try redeploying the update at System Startup
If problem persists, contact support with the following logs:
- If you get this error message while trying to install a Non-Microsoft patch manually, then send the failure message screen shots.
- If you get this error message while trying to install a Microsoft patch, then verify the %windows%\KB******.logs and upload the same.
- Upload the Agent logs pertaining to the computers where the patch is being installed along with the screenshots of manual installation, if the startup configuration fails.
