# How to create a device group?

Follow the steps given below to create a device group:

1. Go to **Inventory > Groups**.
2. Click on the add icon ![Add icon](https://www.manageengine.com/network-configuration-manager/images/dgh1.png) on the top right corner of the page.
3. Give a name to the device group in the newly opened slide.
4. Provide a description (Optional).
5. Select the devices that you want to group together. You can also group multiple device groups as one super group.
6. You can also provide criteria on which devices can be grouped together.
7. By default, all the newly created groups are private. That means only authorized users will be able to view the group. You can choose to make a group public and the group will be accessible to all the users in the network. (**Note: Once a group is made public, it can't be changed to private.**)
8. Click on **Save**.
