MultiCraft is a Canadian importer and distributor of arts and crafts products, headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Founded in 2004, the company supplies the retail crafting trade with more than 8,000 products across 20 proprietary brands, spanning general and kids' crafts, paper crafting, decorative painting, beading and jewellery, and home décor. Working with a network of over 140 factory partners, MultiCraft's mission is to make creativity affordable by bringing quality craft products to market at prices every consumer can enjoy. Behind the scenes, a small IT team keeps the company's Active Directory environment running and provides management with the reporting it needs.

MultiCraft's IT team is responsible for administering Active Directory and for providing the business with visibility into how and when employees are using their accounts. Requests for this information, such as when staff are logging in and out, how many hours they are working, and whether accounts are experiencing repeated failed logins, were a recurring part of the team's workload.
Meeting those requests was consistently difficult. Native Active Directory tooling did not provide the reports the team needed, so the IT manager had to build them by hand with custom PowerShell scripts, which took time to write, maintain, and run each time a report was needed.
Jason Cox, IT Manager, MultiCraft
MultiCraft deployed ManageEngine ADAudit Plus, which has become the team's primary tool for tracking user login activity and work hours. The product gives the IT manager a single portal for everything related to a user's logins, logouts, and hours worked, eliminating the need to run custom scripts. The team has configured daily reports on login, logout, and work-hours activity, which are delivered automatically and give management a reliable, ongoing record.

The reports have also become the team's window into user behaviour across the organization. ADAudit Plus shows who is working late or putting in overtime and when a user appears to be working from home, giving the business a level of insight into working patterns it did not previously have. While day-to-day changes to Active Directory at MultiCraft are few, the product also lets the team see whenever a change is made, closing the gap in change visibility.
Support has matched the product. When the team ran into an issue during an upgrade, ManageEngine support sent detailed instructions that got the system back up and running quickly.

By replacing hand-built PowerShell reports with automated daily reporting and a single portal for user activity, MultiCraft's IT team now delivers login, work-hours, and Active Directory change visibility on demand. The team rates its overall experience with ADAudit Plus at 10 out of 10 and is highly likely to recommend it.
