How to install Endpoint Central on Microsoft Azure?

For those who wish to ease their server management using Microsoft Azure virtual machine, you can now install Endpoint Central on your virtual machine and manage your desktops and mobile devices with ease. Refer this document to create and connect to virtual machines.

Prerequisites:

    1. Ensure that the virtual machine meets the system requirements needed to install Endpoint Central.
    2. Ensure that the virtual machine's Public IP/DNS is not blocked by any firewall and is accessible to all client computers.
    3. Open the  requisite ports on Microsoft Azure Network Security Groups for smooth communication between the Endpoint Central server and the client computers.
    4. Ensure to increase the TCP timeout.

To increase the TCP timeout, follow the below steps:
  • Login to your Azure portal and select the machine in which you want to configure Endpoint Central Server.
  • Navigate to properties, and select PUBLIC IP ADDRESS/DNS NAME LABEL.
  • Increase the TCP timeout to a minimum of 10 minutes.

Steps

After purchasing your virtual machine from Microsoft Azure, you can install Endpoint Central at your virtual machine by following the steps given below,

  1. Remotely connect to your virtual machine
  2. In that virtual machine, open your web browser
  3. Download and install Endpoint Central.

You have now successfully installed the Endpoint Central server. To proceed further, you have to install Endpoint Central agent on the computers you want to manage. You can install agent using any of the below ways

  1. Install agents from Endpoint Central console
  2. Install agents using Windows GPO
  3. Install agents manually

Note: When you access the Endpoint Central using the virtual machine's public IP/DNS address, note that the virtual machine's public IP/DNS address changes when the machine is stopped/re-allocated. As Endpoint Central works on a agent-server model, it is recommended to use a Reserved IP address for uninteruppted communication between the server and the client computers.

You have now successfully installed Endpoint Central on Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine.
