What is Vulnerability Remediation?

A vulnerability remediation plan in Vulnerability Manager Plus is the process of identifying vulnerabilities through continuous scanning, evaluating their impact, determining the appropriate remediation action and ensuring closure through rescan verification and reporting. The platform provides assessment tools, remediation actions including automated patch deployment and reporting capabilities to help teams systematically reduce security findings.

Quick Setup

Follow these steps to create and execute an effective remediation plan in Vulnerability Manager Plus.

Step 1: Open the Security Misconfigurations module

  1. Sign in to the Vulnerability Manager Plus console.
  2. Navigate to ThreatsSoftware Vulnerabilities..
  3. Review all vulnerabilities that were detected during automated scanning.

Step 2: Use filters to focus only on vulnerabilities that matter most

  1. In the Software Vulnerabilities page, open the Filters menu.
  2. Apply these filters for maximum impact with minimal effort:
    • Severity: Critical or Important
    • Exploit Status: Exploitable or Public Exploit
    • Patch Availability: Available
    • CVSS Score: High or Critical
  3. This creates a prioritized list of vulnerabilities that can be remediated quickly.

This ensures that limited time is spent on only the highest value fixes.

Step 3: Automate patching to eliminate manual workload

  1. Go to DeploymentAutomate Patch Deployment.
  2. Create a new APD task.
  3. Select the target computers where patches must be deployed.
  4. Set a schedule to run automatically on a recurring basis.
  5. Save the task.

APD applies patches without manual effort, making it ideal for understaffed teams.

Step 4: Automate progress tracking to save time

  1. Go to ReportsSchedule Reports.
  2. Choose key vulnerability or patch reports.
  3. Choose key vulnerability or patch reports.
