Microsoft Teams is a comprehensive collaboration platform designed to streamline everyday communication, enabling users to share chat messages, files, and collaborative content that supports business operations.
Teams are made up of collections of people, channels, and tools centered around various projects and objectives within an organization. Channels are dedicated sections within a team to keep conversations and content organized by topic, project, or function. Microsoft Teams' file storage is integrated with SharePoint Online, where each team automatically gets a dedicated SharePoint Online site to store, manage, and share files securely when created.
Why back up Microsoft Teams?
Organizations increasingly rely on Microsoft Teams for critical business communications and collaboration. Without a proper backup solution to back up Teams data:
- Important conversations may be permanently lost.
- Regulatory compliance requirements could be violated.
- Business continuity is at risk during outages or accidental deletions.
With ManageEngine RecoveryManager Plus, you can automatically back up Microsoft Teams conversations in channels; select specific sites, posts, or files for granular backup; configure retention policies; and export Teams data. This ensures your Teams data is secure, compliant with regulations, and protected for uninterrupted business operations.
Backup capabilities for Microsoft Teams in RecoveryManager Plus
With RecoveryManager Plus, you can back up the following components from Microsoft Teams:
- Posts and files: All standard posts, their reply threads, and associated files shared within Team channels.
- Attachments: All attachments in posts or replies if they are stored in the corresponding SharePoint Online site. These attachments can be downloaded once backed up.
- Hosted content: All content hosted and shared directly in a channel, such as files and images. This content can be downloaded once backed up.
- Loop components: All loop components, such as tables, checklists, and task lists shared in channel posts.
RecoveryManager Plus allows you to view the backed-up posts and their replies directly within its interface. This makes it easy to browse historical conversations for compliance, auditing, or archival purposes.
You can also export posts and their replies in JSON format. Any associated attachments are included in the export, ensuring a complete archive of the conversation and its content.
