How do I add computers that I want to manage in Endpoint Central MSP?

The first step in Endpoint Central MSP is adding the computers you intend to manage. This is referred to as defining the Scope of Management (SoM). There are multiple ways to add a computer to the SoM. You can choose the method that best fits your network setup:

Approval Settings (Auto-Sync)

This is a smart automation method. You can set up a policy so that any new device connecting to your network is auto-detected, added to the SoM, and has the agent installed automatically.

  1. Navigate to Agent > SoM Settings > Approval Settings.
  2. To manually review newly added computers before approval:
    1. Select Enable computer for approval after agent installation.
    2. Configure the required automatic approval criteria, if needed.

  3. To automatically approve all managed computers:
    1. Enable Approve all computers by default.

Active Directory (AD) (Bulk Addition)

Active Directory (AD): If you have an Active Directory in your network, this is the easiest approach. Once you sync the AD using your admin credentials, all the computers within that domain will be listed. You can simply select the ones you want and add them.

  1. Navigate to Agent > Scope Of Management > Computers > Add Computers.
  2. Select Active Directory Domain
  3. From the left panel, select the required Active Directory domain. Choose the computers you want to manage from the selected domain, and then click Next.

  4. To add a new Active Directory domain, click the (+) icon and select Active Directory.

  5. Enter the required domain details and click Validate & Proceed.

  • Configure the synchronization settings and click Add Domain to complete the domain addition.

  • Select the Remote Office where you want to add the computers
    1. Click Add to SoM to add the computers only to the Scope of Management.
    2. Click Add and Install Agents to add the computers and automatically install agents on them.

  • CSV Import

    Do you have a large list of computers in an Excel or CSV file? Simple! You can directly import that CSV file to add them to the SoM in bulk. (This method is incredibly useful when setting up Remote Offices).

    1. Navigate to Agent > Scope of Management > Computers > Managed Computers.
    2. Under Import, select:
      1. Import Computers to import computers into the Scope of Management, or
      2. Import Custom Field Values to import custom field details for existing computers.

    3. Upload the CSV file containing the computer names.

      Click Download Sample File to view the required CSV file format.

    4. Click Save to complete the import process and add the computers.
    5. Upload your file and save the configuration to add the computers to the Scope of Management in bulk.

    Manual Addition

    If you only need to add a few specific computers, you can manually type in the respective computer names and add them directly to the SoM.

    1. Navigate to Agent > Scope Of Management > Computers > Add Computers.
    2. Open Manual Computer Addition
    3. Click the Add Computer icon to add computers manually.

    4. Locate the text box and manually type the exact names of the computers you wish to add separated by comma(,). Press enter to add the computer(s).

    5. Select the Remote Office where you want to add the computers
      1. Click Add to SoM to add the computers only to the Scope of Management.
      2. Click Add and Install Agents to add the computers and automatically install agents on them.

    Workgroup

    If you don't have an AD and are operating on a local network, you can scan and add computers by providing your Workgroup credentials (local admin username and password).

    1. Navigate to Agent > Scope Of Management > Computers > Add Computers.
    2. Select Workgroup Domain
    3. From the left panel, select the required Workgroup domain. Choose the computers you want to manage from the selected domain, and then click Next.

    4. To add a new Active Directory domain, click the (+) icon and select WorkGorup.

    5. Enter the required domain details and click Add Domain to complete the domain addition.

    6. Select the Remote Office where you want to add the computers
      1. Click Add to SoM to add the computers only to the Scope of Management.
      2. Click Add and Install Agents to add the computers and automatically install agents on them.

    Remote Office Configuration

    If you have branch offices outside your main office, you can manage those computers by adding them via a Distribution Server or Direct WAN agents.

    1. Navigate to Agent > Scope of Management > Remote Offices > Add Remote Office.

    2. Scroll down to the 'Managed Computers' section to add the remote endpoints by selecting the Add Computers or Import CSV options, then click Add.
