Notification Template
Notification templates in ADManager Plus allows administrators to define notifications sent from the product. These templates offer the flexibility to define who receives the notifications, how they are delivered (Email and/or SMS), and the message to be sent, using built-in macros for dynamic data.
Notification templates can be reused across multiple notification profiles and help standardize the notification sending process.
How a notification template works
Notification templates in ADManager Plus define the structure and content of email and SMS notifications sent during administrative operations such as user creation, modification, deletion, password resets, approvals, and automation tasks. Administrators configure templates by specifying the notification type, recipients, message content, and dynamic placeholders that automatically retrieve real-time data from Active Directory or Microsoft 365 objects.
When an action is triggered, either manually, through workflow approvals, or via scheduled automation, ADManager Plus evaluates the associated notification template, replaces placeholders with actual attribute values, and sends the notification to the configured recipients.
Prerequisites
- The logged-in user must be an ADManager Plus administrator or a help desk technician with the required permissions.
- Mail server (SMTP) and SMS gateway settings must be configured to send notifications.
Steps to create a notification template in ADManager Plus
- Navigate to the Admin tab.
- Under System Settings, click on Notification Profile.
- Click on Notification Template.
- Click the Create New Template button to create a new template.
- Enter a suitable Name and also a short Description for the template being created.
- In the Module field, choose the module for which this template will be used.
- In the Send Notification via field, select the desired notification mode (SMS, Email, or both) from the drop-down list.
- If you've selected Email as the notification mode:
- In the Send Notification To field, select the users to whom the notifications must be sent by clicking choose.
- In the Subject field, enter a suitable subject for the email.
- In the Message field, enter the message that you wish to send to the users. You can specify the details related to the action, such as the domain in which the action was performed, the time at which the action was performed, the technician who performed the action, etc., using the macros listed beside the Message field. You can also upload and attach your own files to the notifications. You can also specify LDAP names of attributes as macros. For example, if you wish to send "Hi John, Smith has performed the 'create user' action in the domain example.com", you can specify it in the message field, using the macros, as: "Hi User Name (macro), Technician Name (macro) has performed the Action Title (macro) action in the domain Domain Name (macro)".
- Select the Attachment Type option, and also the desired format (PDF, XLSX, HTML, or mail content) if you wish to send the notification as an attachment.
- If you've selected SMS as the notification mode:
- In the Phone Number field, enter the contact numbers of the desired recipients.
- If you've selected Email as the notification mode:
- Click Save. The created template is added to the list of notification templates configured within ADManager Plus.
- From the Actions tab, you can select Edit, Delete, or Preview Email to edit, delete, or preview the notification template.
- If any text contains the "%" character, use "%%" to distinguish it from macros.
- In the Automation module, check the Send Only Consolidated Report option to receive a comprehensive report. This report will notify you of the automation results, including a summary of the actions performed once the last action is completed. Notification of certain tasks, such as delete tasks and file server management tasks, will be excluded from the consolidated report.
- To send the notifications to the manager of a modified or newly created user, use the %Users'sManager% macro in the Send Notification To field.
- Macros with default values will not be processed in the notification template.
