Veeam Enterprise Manager - Overview

Veeam Enterprise Manager is a centralized management and monitoring component of the Veeam Backup & Replication solution. It provides a unified interface to manage backup and replication activities across multiple Veeam backup servers. Using Veeam Enterprise Manager, administrators can efficiently monitor backup jobs, manage virtual machine and file-level backups, and gain visibility into the overall data protection environment. This helps ensure reliable backup and recovery of virtual machines and files across the infrastructure.

Creating a new Veeam Enterprise Manager monitor

Once the prerequisites are fulfilled, follow the steps given below to create a new Veeam Enterprise Manager monitor:

  1. Click on the Add New Monitor link under New Monitor.
  2. Select Veeam Enterprise Manager under the Virtualization category.
  3. Specify the Display Name for the Veeam Enterprise Manager monitor.
  4. Enter the Host Name/IP Address of the server where Veeam Enterprise Manager is running.
  5. Enter the REST API Service Port used by the Veeam Enterprise Manager server. The default port used is 9398.
  6. Under the Credential Details option:
    • If you choose Use below credential , enter the Username and Password to access the Veeam Enterprise Manager.
    • If you choose Select from credential list, select the appropriate credential from the preconfigured credential list.
  7. Specify the Polling Interval value in minutes for monitoring Veeam Enterprise Manager metrics.
  8. Choose the Monitor Group with which you want to associate the Veeam Enterprise Manager monitor. You can associate the monitor with multiple groups if required.
  9. Click Add Monitor(s) to add the Veeam Enterprise Manager monitor.

Monitored Parameters

Go to the Monitors Category View by clicking the Monitors tab. Click on Veeam Enterprise Manager under the Virtualization table. Displayed is the Veeam Enterprise Manager bulk configuration view distributed into three tabs:

  • Availability tab gives the Availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • Performance tab gives the Health Status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • List view enables you to perform bulk admin configurations.

Scheduled JobsDisplays the total number of backup jobs that are scheduled.
Successful Job RunsIndicates the number of jobs that have completed successfully.
Job Runs with WarningsRepresents the number of jobs that have completed with warnings.
Failed Job RunsShows the total number of jobs that have failed.
Backup Servers by Failures - Provides a graphical representation of the list of backup servers with respect to their corresponding Failed Jobs Count.
Slowest Backup Jobs - Provides a graphical representation of the list of jobs with respect to their corresponding Job Duration.

Last ErrorProvides the error message from the last job execution, if any.
Backup Jobs Details
Job NameSpecifies the name of the scheduled backup job.
Job TypeIndicates the type of backup job.
Backup ServerIndicates the backup server on which the job is scheduled.
RetentionIndicates the retention policy configured for the job.
