This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
To monitor a Hyper-V Server, the user must have "Administrator" privileges to the root OS (Windows 2008 R2 and other supported Hyper-V versions).
If a Firewall is present between IT360 and the Hyper-V server, open ports 135, 443 and 1025 in the firewall, to enable access.
Follow the steps given below to create a new Microsoft Hyper-V Server monitor:
Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.
Click the Admin tab in the header pane.
Click Discover/Add under Discovery.
Choose the option Add from the Discover/Add type dropdown and select the Application radio button.
In the Add New Monitor wizard displayed, click Hyper-V Server under Virtualization (see this screenshot). In the Add Monitor wizard displayed, do the following:
Specify the Display Name of the Hyper-V server.
Enter the Host Name or IP Address of the Host, where the Hyper-V server is running.
Enter User Name and Password for authentication.
Select the Monitor Performance Metrics of Virtual Machines option, if you want IT360 to collect Performance metrics of VMs of this server.
Note: If you select this option, we will:
- Auto discover all the virtual machines (VMs) in the inventory.
- Display performance metrics for those VMs.
- Each VM will consume one monitor license.
Example: If there are five virtual machines in the Hyper-V host, you will need six monitors for licensing (One Hyper-V server monitor and five virtual machine monitors). If you do not select this option, the VMs will be added in unmanaged state. However, availability and VM state will be monitored.
Specify the Polling interval, in minutes. (The time interval to monitor the different parameters configured for a Monitor)
Now, Associate the above Monitor Instances to a Business Service. i.e. choose the Business Service, to which you want to associate the Hyper-V Server monitor, from the combo box. If no Business Service is found, Create one by clicking the Create New Business Service link.
In the case of Professional Edition, it is Business Service [optional]
In the case of Enterprise Edition - Probe, it is Business Service [optional]
In the case of MSP Edition - Probe, it is Customer and Site [mandatory]
