This section is common to all the editions of IT360, as per the below constraints;
Professional Edition
Enterprise Edition [Applicable to Probes only, and not applicable / relevant to the Central Server, since the configuration of the monitors happens only at the Probe level. However, you may see these discovered monitors from the Central Server]
MSP Edition [Applicable to Probes only, and not applicable / relevant to the Central Server, since the configuration of the monitors happens only at the Probe level. However, you may see these discovered monitors from the Central Server]
Follow the steps given below to create a new VMware ESX/ESXi server monitor;
Go to 'Admin -> Servers & Applications' and click on New Monitor link.
From the Add Monitor of type drop down list, select VMware ESX/ESXi under Virtualization category.
Specify the Display Name of the VMware ESX server.
Enter the Host Name or IP Address of the Host, where the VMware server is running.
Enter the Port, where the server is running.
Enter User Name and Password for authentication.
Choose the type of VM Discovery. Under each VMware ESX/ESXi monitor, is listed a set of VMs. Depending on the option, you choose, the VM discovery will happen. If you choose the option;
‘Do not discover’- No VMs, under the selected VMware ESX/ESXi monitor, will be discovered.
‘Discover VM but do not monitor metrics (Will not count for licensing)’- Only the VMs, under the selected VMware ESX/ESXi monitor, will be discovered, but the metrics will not be monitored.
‘Discover and monitor VM metrics’- All the VMs, under the selected VMware ESX/ESXi monitor, will be discovered, and also the metrics will be monitored.
Choose the Grouping, to which you want to associate the VMware ESX server, from the combo box;
In the case of Professional Edition, it is Business Service [optional]
In the case of Enterprise Edition - Probe, it is Business Service [optional]
A member of the Group user.
Based on the profile 'read only'.
