ManageEngine® SQLDBManager Plus
Installing and Uninstalling
The following are the types of SQLDBManager Plus product installations that are available:
Professional Edition (Trial)
Professional Edition (Registered)
Free Edition: This allows you to monitor One DB server. The Free Edition never expires and you get most of the functionality of Professional Edition.
Professional Edition (Trial): You can avail 30 days of evaluation with no restrictions on number of DB servers.
Professional Edition (Registered): This is the registered version of the product. In registered version, SQLDBManager Plus allows you to monitor up to 250 DB servers. ManageEngine provides the Registered user file after you purchase the product. To get the registered user file, e-mail to email@example.com.
Note: You can upgrade from the Professional Edition (Trial) to Professional Edition (Registered). This is applicable, if you have purchased ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus and hold the registered license key. To upgrade your license, refer Licensing SQLDBManager Plus.
To install SQLDBManager Plus in Windows (.exe)
Uninstalling SQLDBManager Plus
To Install SQLDBManager Plus in Windows (.exe)
Download and Execute the file. The Installation Wizard is displayed. Click Next to continue.
Read the license agreement and click Yes.
Select the language in which you wish to install SQLDBManager Plus. The options are English and Simplified Chinese
The next screen prompts for the product edition (30-day Trial or Registered User ). Select the preferred edition to install.
If Registered User - is selected, the wizard will prompt you to apply the license key you have obtained before-hand. Click on Browse and locate the license key file. Upon selecting the license key, SQLDBManager Plus will alert you if the license is applied properly.
Provide the location where the SQLDBManager Plus should be installed in your machine. Click Browse to provide a different location of installation. Click Next.
Specify the name of the Folder to be placed in Program Folder. The default is ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus 5. Click Next.
Specify the port at which web server has to be started. By default, it is 9433. This is the port at which you will connect the web client.
The TCP/IP Port for SQL Server is 1433. This port must be made accessible in case there is a firewall.
Select the right type of authentication method : SQL Authentication or Windows Authentication.
If it is based on SQL Authentication, enter the Host Name, Port Number, Database Name, User Name, Password of the SQL Server and Instance if required.
If it is based on Windows Authentication, enter the Host Name, Port Number, Database Name of the SQL Server and the User Name, Password of the machine in which SQL Server is running. Also provide minimum privileges required : The user account should be the DB_Owner of the created Database.
If you want to install SQLDBManager Plus as a service,
select the 'Install SQLDBManager Plus
as Service' option and click Next.
Note: For installing as service, you need to have administrative privileges in that system. Incase, you did not select this option while installing the SQLDBManager Plus, you can then install SQLDBManager Plus as service by invoking the installService.bat found under <home>/bin. For invoking installService.bat, you must have started SQLDBManager Plus atleast once.
Current Settings is displayed in the next screen. If you need to make changes, click Back, else click Next to continue installation.
You have an option to fill up a registration form for Technical Support.
Finally, you would be given two options - 1. To view the ReadMe file 2. To launch SQLDBManager Plus immediately.
Click Finish to complete the installation process.
Note: If the execution of the installation command throws an error such as "there may not be enough temporary space available in the temp folder", then execute the file with the argument as
[for Windows] - <File Name>.exe -is:tempdir $DIRNAME
where $DIRNAME is the absolute path of any existing directory.
1. Shut Down SQLDBManager Plus (Note: Make sure that the ManageEngine SQLDBManagerPlus service is stopped if installed as a Windows service)
2. Open a command prompt, go to SQLDBManager Plus Home directory (by default it is C:\Program Files\ManageEngine\SQLDBManager Plus) and execute the below commands,
3. Exit out of the command prompt and close all files, folders opened in the SQLDBManager Plus Home directory
4. Click Start > Programs > ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus > Uninstall SQLDBManager Plus
5. You can also uninstall SQLDBManager Plus through Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus
Note: Uninstalling SQLDBManager Plus will not delete the back end database used by SQLDBManager Plus. You will have to delete it manually.
