Add SQL Server Manually
Enter the Hostname / IP Address of the host.
Enter the Port number in which the MS SQL is running.
Enter the Polling interval time in minutes.
Select the authentication type from the drop-down menu. If you select the SQL Server Authentication, provide the User Name and Password for the SQL server.
If you select Windows Authentication, provide the Windows authentication details as Domainname\Username and Password for the same.
If you are using Named Instance, then select Connect Using Named Instance. Then provided the proper instance name in the box below titled Instance Name.
(Note: Ensure that you have SQL Browser Service is running if you would like to monitor via named instance.)
If you would like to monitor the host on which your SQL server is running, then select Collect Host Details. Provide proper authentication (Username and Password) for the host machine.
Note: SQLDBManager Plus connects to the host server via WMI method, for which you need the following details. You need the Domain username which is also a part of local administrator in the target server. If the target server is within a workgroup, system username and password would suffice.
Also, WMI and RPC (Remote Procedure Call) Windows services should be running in the target machine.
