What happens when existing devices are rediscovered?

Rediscovery re-polls devices already in OpManager, using the credentials you choose. It refreshes RAM, interface, device profile, and HDD information, but keeps your custom edits, like associated monitors and custom fields. It can also fix devices that were classified as Unknown.

How to rediscover devices

A single device

  1. Go to Inventory and click the device.
  2. On the Device Snapshot page, open the menu and select Rediscover Device.
  3. Choose the appropriate credentials and click Rediscover Now.

Multiple devices

  1. Go to Settings > Network Discovery > Rediscovery.
  2. Click Rediscover Devices, select the devices, groups, or business views, and choose the credentials.
  3. Click Schedule to run it later, or Save to run it now.

Fixing Unknown devices

If a device was discovered as Unknown, rediscover it with the correct credentials. OpManager will associate it with the matching device template, as long as the device's SysOID matches an existing or custom device template.

To add new devices instead, see Discovering devices and interfaces in OpManager.
