Red Hat System Nomination Issues

Resolve Red Hat nominated system cache repository issues by checking subscriptions, agents, connectivity, certificates, proxy settings, and system time.

Problem

Cache repository creation fails because the nominated system cannot complete one of these operations:

  • Download files from the Red Hat portal to the nominated system.
  • Upload files from the nominated system to the Patch Manager Plus server.

Cause

  • The nominated system does not have a working internet connection, or a firewall prevents access to the Red Hat portal.
  • The Patch Manager Plus agent is not installed on the nominated system.
  • The sslclientcert certificate key required for Red Hat portal communication is missing or invalid.
  • A transparent proxy is interfering with TLS communication.
  • The nominated system clock is incorrect.

Resolution

  1. Confirm that the nominated Red Hat machine has a Standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription that points to the Red Hat CDN.
  2. Verify that the internet connection works and that firewall rules allow access to the Red Hat portal.
  3. Install the Patch Manager Plus agent on every Red Hat machine that will be managed.
  4. If sslclientcert is missing or invalid, detach the subscription from the nominated system and attach it again to generate a valid key.
  5. Configure the proxy in YUM and remove any other proxy setting that interferes with TLS communication.
  6. Correct the nominated system date, time, and time zone.
  7. Retry cache repository creation. If the issue persists, contact support and provide the relevant log files.
