Dashboards and Widgets

Dashboards in Applications Manager provide a unified interface to monitor the performance, availability, and health of applications in real time. You can configure customized views with widgets to quickly access critical operational data.

Dashboards can represent infrastructure components, applications, business services, or geographical entities. They are useful for monitoring scenarios such as NOC displays, application-specific tracking, and business-level summaries.

Follow these step-by-step guides to create, configure, and share dashboards in Applications Manager.

Creating a new dashboard

Navigate to the Dashboards section from the main menu.
Click the New Dashboard button to create a fresh dashboard.
Enter a descriptive Dashboard Name for easy identification.
Provide an optional Description to document the dashboard's purpose.
Select the User Association to define who can access this dashboard. Assign the dashboard to specific users or user groups as needed.
Click Create to generate the new dashboard.

Note: Only Administrator and Delegated Administrator roles can create Dashboard.

Adding widgets to your dashboard

Open the required dashboard.
Click the Add Widgets button located on the dashboard toolbar.
Browse the widget catalog organized by categories: Performance, Availability & Health, Alarms, Monitor Groups, and Utility widgets.
Select the widget type that matches the monitoring requirements. For example, select Top N Monitors to display top-performing resources.
Configure the widget settings in the configuration panel, such as:
- Widget name and description
- Monitor type (Windows, AIX, SQL Server, etc.)
- Metrics to display
- Time period for data collection
- Visualization type (graph, table, dial, etc.)
Click Add to insert the widget into the dashboard.
Repeat steps 2-6 to add additional widgets as needed.

Note: For optimal performance, limit your dashboard to 5-8 widgets. Excessive widgets can impact load time and responsiveness.

Customizing dashboard layout

Use the drag-and-drop interface to reposition widgets on the dashboard. Click and hold any widget to move it to a new location.
Resize widgets by dragging the resize handle (usually at the bottom-right corner) to display more or less information.
Configure individual widget settings by clicking the widget's settings icon (gear or menu icon) to modify:
- Displayed metrics
- Time periods
- Graph types
- Sorting and filtering options
Arrange widgets to group related information. For example, place all performance widgets together and all alarm widgets in another section.
Click Save to apply the layout changes.

Publishing and sharing dashboards

Open the required dashboard.
Click the Publish Dashboard button from the dashboard actions menu.
A public URL will be generated. This URL provides read-only access to the dashboard without requiring Applications Manager login.
Copy the public URL and distribute it to stakeholders who need to view the dashboard.
Optionally, customize the published dashboard appearance by configuring display options such as refresh intervals and widget visibility.
To create a standalone dashboard view for NOC displays or external monitors, click Pop Out to open the dashboard in a new window suitable for large displays.

Note: Published dashboards provide read-only access. Modifying dashboard content requires edit permissions in Applications Manager.

Dashboard actions

Overview

Dashboard actions in Applications Manager provide options to create, customize, and manage dashboards according to specific monitoring requirements. These actions are available from the dashboard interface and help you organize and share dashboards effectively.

Available actions

Add Widgets: Launches the widget catalog to add new widgets to the current dashboard.
Edit Dashboard: Opens the dashboard in edit mode. This allows you to rename the dashboard, update its description, and modify the user association.
New Dashboard: Creates a new dashboard with selected widgets for the selected users.
New Business Dashboard: Creates a dashboard with a business view layout, useful for visualizing monitor groups and services in a logical structure.
New Application Dashboard: Creates a dashboard specifically designed for monitoring application-related metrics and status.
Generate Dashboard Report: Generates a PDF report of the current dashboard view, which can be downloaded and shared.

View options

Publish Dashboard: Makes the dashboard accessible via a public URL. This is useful for sharing with stakeholders who do not have direct access to the application. This only provides read access to the published dashboard.
Pop Out: Opens the current dashboard in a new window, suitable for display on external monitors or NOC screens.
Set as Default: Marks the selected dashboard as the default view for the logged-in user.
NOC Views: Enables a slideshow mode where multiple dashboards are displayed in rotation at specified time intervals, ideal for continuous monitoring on large screens.
