Configuring Remote Access Plus ports

For the agent-server communication to be seamless, the Remote Access Plus port settings should be at place. This page lets you understand the ports required by Remote Access Plus, the significance of each one of them and how to configure.

Ports Required

Remote Access Plus uses the above ports for the respective operations in default. However, you can change the ports and configure the ports of your choice for each and every operation. Use the below links to find the steps to configure the ports.

1. Configuring web server ports

   Remote Access Plus uses the port 8020 (http) or 8383 (https) to enable agent-server communication and access web console. Follow the steps below to change the default ports after installation.

   Important : Changing the Remote Access Plus default web-server port will have an impact on the agent-server communication. Ensure to update the correct port number in all the Remote Access Plus agents. If this is not done, all the Remote Access Plus agents will keep trying to reach the server using the outmoded port number and will have an impact all the troubleshooting activities using Remote Access Plus.

   Changing the port number in server

   Follow the below steps to change the port number in Remote Access Plus server

   1. From services.msc, stop the Remote Access Plus service
   2. Open the websettings.conf located in \RemoteAccessPlus_Server\conf. 
      For example, C:\Program Files\RemoteAccessPlus_Server\conf.
   3. Change the port numbers in http.port and https.port keys
   4. Restart Remote Access Plus service

   You can now access your Remote Access Plus server using the newly configured port. However, updating the newly configured port to the agents is mandatory for the agent-server communication to be seamless.

   Updating the new port number to the agents

   To update the port the newly modified port numbers to all the agents managed by Remote Access Plus, follow the below steps,

   1. Ensure all the computers managed are live.
   2. From your Remote Access Plus console, navigate to Agent tab -> under Scope of Management -> Computers select all the computers installed with Remote Access Plus agent and click on the Install Agent button.

   Following the above steps will have the port numbers updated in the Remote Access Plus server and agents.

2. Configuring Notification Server ports

   Remote Access Plus comes bundle with a notification server that reaches the agents whenever there is an on-demand operation such as a remote desktop connection is initiated. Notification server uses the port number 7027 in default. If you want to configure the Notification Server to communicate through some other port, follow the below steps.

   1. From your Remote Access Plus web console, navigate to Admin tab -> Server Settings.
   2. Provide the new Notification Server port number and save the changes.
