Microsoft Azure Network Watcher Connection is a feature within Azure Network Watcher that provides connectivity monitoring capabilities for resources deployed within Azure. The Network Watcher Connection feature allows users to monitor and diagnose network connectivity between Azure resources, such as virtual machines, application gateways, and load balancers.

Application Manager's Azure Network Watcher Connection Monitoring tool provides a comprehensive solution for monitoring and diagnosing connectivity within your Azure environment. This monitoring capability allows you to analyze network connectivity between Azure resources, enabling you to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and ensure optimal performance.

Monitored Parameters

Navigate to the Category View by clicking the Monitors tab. Hover over 'Child Monitors' under Microsoft Azure in the Cloud Apps table, and then select the Network Watcher Connection monitor from the displayed tooltip. This action will display the bulk configuration view for Azure Network Watcher Connection in three tabs:

  • Availability tab gives the Availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • Performance tab gives the Health Status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • List view enables you to perform bulk admin configurations.

CONNECTION TEST STATUS
Connection Test StatusThe recent test result of the connection monitor in network watcher. Interpreted from numeric values:
0 - Indeterminate
1 - Passed
2 - Warning
3 - Failed
ROUND-TRIP TIME
Round-Trip TimeThe average network round-trip time for connectivity monitoring checks between the poll interval (in milliseconds).
CHECKS FAILED PERCENT
Checks FailedThe average percentage of connectivity monitoring checks failed between the poll interval (in %).
Other StatusThe average percentage of connectivity monitoring checks with a status other than failed between the poll interval (in %).

STATUS SPLIT-UP OF TEST GROUPS
Failed Test GroupsThe total number of Failed Test Groups at the time of polling.
Warning Test GroupsThe total number of Warning Test Groups at the time of polling.
Passed Test GroupsThe total number of Passed Test Groups at the time of polling.
Indeterminate Test GroupsThe total number of Indeterminate Test Groups at the time of polling.
Round-Trip Time of Test Groups
Round-Trip TimeThe 'Round-Trip Time of Test Groups' graph displays the top 10 Test Groups based on round trip time (in milliseconds).

Test Group NameThe name of the Test Group.
Checks Failed PercentThe average percentage of connectivity monitoring checks failed between the poll interval (in %).
Round-Trip TimeThe average network round-trip time for connectivity monitoring checks between the poll interval (in milliseconds).
ResultThe recent test result of the connection monitor in network watcher. Interpreted from numeric values:
0 - Indeterminate
1 - Passed
2 - Warning
3 - Failed
StatusThe status indicating whether the test group is enabled or disabled for monitoring.

Resource Group NameThe name of the resource group.
LocationThe location of the resource.
Provisioning StateThe current provisioning state. Possible values:
  • Deleting
  • Failed
  • Succeeded
  • Updating
Connection Monitor TypeThe type of connection monitor. Possible values: MultiEndpoint/SingleSourceDestination.
Connection Start TimeThe date and time when the connection monitor was started.
Connection DurationThe difference of days from start time to the current date.
