How to uninstall Device Control Plus agent?

Problem

Your users are unable to uninstall the Device Control Plus Agent from Add/Remove Programs, as there is no provision available to do the same.

Cause

You may encounter this problem if you have enabled the Restrict users from uninstalling the agent from control panel option under Admin -> Security Settings -> Secure Login while deploying agents to computers.

Resolution

Revoke User Permissions to Add/Remove Programs

If you want to allow your users to uninstall agent from client machines,

  1. Under Admin tab, click on Security Settings.
  2. Disable the Restrict users from uninstalling the agent from control panel option.

The update will get reflected during the subsequent communication between the Agent and the Server. And the users will be able to see options to add or remove under the Add/Remove Programs section.

Agent uninstallation

To uninstall the agents from the computers, follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. STEP 1 - Navigate to Agent > Computers (under Scope of Management) > Select the computers > Click on Uninstall Agent
    2. STEP 2 - If Uninstallation Restriction is configured, Enter the OTP prompted, either on the command line interpreter or UI displayed. To view the OTP configured, navigate to Agent > Scope of Management > Computers (in product console) or Menu > Scope of Management > Computers > Actions (in mobile app).
    1. STEP 1 - Login into the computer as an administrator and open the terminal.
    2. STEP 2 - Navigate to the directory /Library/UEMS_Agent/uninstall.
    3. STEP 3 - Type sudo chmod 744 uninstall.sh, and enter administrator password when prompted.
    4. STEP 4 - Enter the OTP prompted, if uninstallation restrictions are configured. To view the OTP navigate to Agent > Scope of Management > Computers (in product console) or Menu > Scope of Management > Computers > Actions (in mobile app).
    5. STEP 5 - Type the command sudo ./uninstall.sh. This command removes all the files except logs.
