Steps to configure SAML SSO for Coda

About Coda

Coda is a collaborative document and productivity platform that combines the flexibility of documents, spreadsheets, and applications into a single workspace. It allows teams to create interactive documents that include text, tables, databases, buttons, and automation, effectively turning documents into custom-built tools without coding.

The following steps will help you enable SSO for Coda software from Identity360.

Prerequisites

  1. The MFA and SSO license for Identity360 is required to enable SSO for enterprise applications.
  2. Log in to Identity360 as an Admin, Super Admin, or Technician with a role that has Application Integration and Single Sign-on permissions.
  3. Navigate to Applications > Application Integration > Create New Application and select Coda from the applications displayed.
    Note: You can also find Coda using the search bar located at the top.
  4. On the General Settings tab, enter the Application Name and Description.
  5. Under Choose Capabilities, select Single Sign-on and click Continue.

  6. On Integration Settings tab, navigate to Single Sign On and click IdP Details. Copy the Login URL, Entity ID, and Signing Certificate values, which will be used later during the configuration in Coda.

Coda (service provider) configuration steps

  1. Log in to Coda, the service provider (SP), as an owner or administrator.
  2. Click your account name on the lower left, then click Admin settings.
  3. Navigate to Security > Authentication > Authentication methods.
  4. Scroll down to the Authenticate with SSO (SAML) option and toggle it On.
  5. Click Configure SAML.
  6. From the SAML provider drop-down at the top of the page, select Standard.
  7. Click Show all configurable fields and copy the Entity ID.
  8. Navigate to the From SAML identity provider section.
  9. In the Identity provider metadata URL field, paste the Metadata URL value as instructed in these steps.
  10. Click Import.
  11. The Identity provider login URL, Identity provider expected issuer, and Identity provider public certificate fields will auto-fill. Make any manual edits if needed.
  12. Otherwise, manual configuration is also possible. Click Show all configurable fields and fill in the details.
  13. In the Identity provider login URL field, paste the Login URL value copied in step 6 of the prerequisites.
  14. In the Identity provider expected issuer field, paste the Entity ID value copied in step 6 of the prerequisites.
  15. In the Identity provider public certificate field, paste the Signing Certificate value copied in step 6 of the prerequisites.
  16. Click Save.

Identity360 (identity provider) configuration steps

  1. Switch to the application configuration page for Identity360, the identity provider (IdP).
  2. In the Saml ID field, paste the unique identifier part of the Entity ID value copied in step 7 of the Coda configuration. For example, if the Entity ID value is https://coda.io/samlId/saml-afgcje34, then the Saml ID is afgcje34.
  3. Enter the Relay State parameter, if necessary.
    Note: The Relay State is an optional parameter used with a SAML message to remember where you were or to direct you to a specific page after logging in.
  4. Click Save.

  5. To learn how to assign users or groups to one or more applications, refer to this page.

Your users will now be able to sign in to Coda through the Identity360 portal.

Note: For Coda, both IdP- and SP-initiated flows are supported.

Steps to enable MFA for Coda

Setting up MFA for Coda using Identity360 involves the following steps:

  1. Set up one or more authenticators for identity verification when users attempt to log in to Coda. Identity360 supports various authenticators, including Google Authenticator, Zoho OneAuth, and email-based verification codes. Click here for steps to set up the different authenticators.
  2. Integrate Coda with Identity360 by configuring SSO using the steps listed here.
  3. Now, activate MFA for Coda by following the steps mentioned here.
