Objective
Learn how to configure the retention period for deleted Active Directory objects in Quick Recovery. This setting defines how long deleted users, groups, and other objects can be restored without requiring a full backup recovery. Adjusting the retention period helps organizations align recovery timelines with internal data retention policies, minimize downtime caused by accidental deletions, and ensure that critical objects remain recoverable within the required window.
Prerequisites
- Must be a built-in administrator or a technician with access to backup configuration.
- Domain backup must already be configured in ADManager Plus.
Steps to follow
- Log in to ADManager Plus using a built-in admin account.
- Navigate to Backup > Active Directory > Settings > Backup Settings.
- Locate the configured backup and click the Edit icon.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- In the Deleted Objects Validity field, enter the number of months for which deleted objects should be retained for quick recovery.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
Tips
If accidental deletions are common or recovery needs are high, consider increasing the retention period to avoid data loss.
