The user presence feature in a user's profile indicates the availability and status of a user to others. By default, the users in your organization will be able to see if others are available online.
The user presence states are of two categories: user configured and app configured. User configured states are those in which the user chooses their status. Whereas, app configured states are based on user activity.
The following table shows the different types of user presence under each of the categories.
| User configured |

The user presence state changes to Away when their computer is locked, idle or in sleep mode. In mobile, it changes to Away whenever the Teams app is running in the background.
Irrespective of their status, users will receive messages in Team. In case if a user is offline, they will receive the messages the next time they come online. When the Do not disturb state is enabled, users will still receive the messages but will not be notified.
Users will receive calls in all presence states except for the Do not disturb state. In this state the calls will go to voice mail. If a user is blocked by the recipient, their calls will not be delivered.
Users can configure their priority access list in the privacy settings in Teams. Users added to this list can contact the user even when the user has configured the Do not disturb state.
