Microsoft offers a report to understand SharePoint Online activity. To access the SharePoint Online activity report:
- From the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Reports → Usage.
- From the Select a report drop-down, choose SharePoint → Activity.
This report provides information about SharePoint Online activities in the last seven days, 30 days, 90 days, and 180 days. It groups activities, including Viewed or Edited, Synced, Shared internally, and Shared externally, based on Files and Users in different tabs. The Pages tab sheds light on the number of unique pages visited by users. In the Details section, you can view granular data about individual users and their file interactions like:
- Username
- Last date of activity
- Files viewed or edited
- Files synced
- Files shared internally
- Files shared externally
- Pages visited
- Deleted (user's license removed)
- Deleted date and more.
