Authenticating the Integration


This document will explain the steps involved in configuring Mobile Device Manager Plus and ServiceDesk Plus integration. The first step to integrate Mobile Device Manager Plus with ServiceDesk Plus is to generate an Authentication Key to authenticate the integration. Authentication Key is also called as API Key. Authentication keys should be generated in both the servers. The key which is generated in MDM server should be entered in ServiceDesk Plus server, and the key which is generated in ServiceDesk Plus, should be updated in the MDM server. All communications between the MDM and the ServiceDesk Plus server will be validated based on these authentication keys.

Authentication Key is mandatory to secure all communications between Mobile Device Manager Plus and ServiceDesk Plus. Authentication Keys are used to perform the below mentioned operations:

Generating Authentication Key in Mobile Device Manager Plus

Note : The following steps are applicable only for customers who are running MDM build # 90109 or later versions and ServiceDesk Plus build # 9033. If you are using Mobile Device Manager Plus running on build number lesser than 90109, or ServiceDesk Plus build number lesser than 9033, then upgrade to the latest version and follow the steps mentioned below.

Authentication key can be created only for the logged on user and the user should have Administrator privilege. To generate an authentication key, You need to login to MDM web console as the user, with administrator privilege and follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Click Admin tab on MDM web console.
  2. Under Integrations, select API Key Generations.
  3. Click on Generate API Key.
  4. Enter the Service Name and select the Usage Scope.
  5. A key will be generated, copy and paste the key onto the SDP portal by following the given steps:
    1. Navigate to the Admin ->Integrations and choose Mobile Device Manager Plus
    2. Enter the MDM server name, the port number and protocol settings.
    3. Paste the generated API key.

Generating Authentication Key in ServiceDesk Plus

To generate an authentication key for ServiceDesk Plus, you should login as a user, with administrator privilege. Follow the steps mentioned below to generate authentication key for a new user.

  1. Go to Admin tab in ServiceDesk Plus.
  2. Under Users, select Technician.
  3. Click Add New to create a new technician and fill in the required details.
  4. Select Enable Administrator Privileges (SDAdmin) option.
  5. Under API Key Details, click Generate/Regenerate to generate the authentication key.

You have successfully generated the authentication key.
