Web Clips

Web Clips is used for creating shortcuts of URLs in the managed device. Web Clips display the content of the linked URL in a web browser. The advantage of using Web Clips is that it saves time, ensuring minimal user action is required to access the URLs. Web Clips can generally be used in the following scenarios:

To ensure users can access only the contents of a particular URL and not any other apps/resources in a device, Kiosk must be configured. Kiosk can be configured to ensure users can access only the Web Clip in the device. The pre-requisite for this setup is that the Kiosk profile must be configured to allow only a single app in the Kiosk Mode, which must be the default browser of the device. As Web Clips are opened in a browser, the browser app must not be restricted through Kiosk.

Open in

Specify whether you want to open in a browser or a browser with restricted access. The latter, ensures you cannot navigate away from the URL provisioned under Web Clips.

1. Web shortcuts automatically prevents users from deleting browsing history and cache on the device.
2. If you want to provision Web Shortcuts with open in a browser, you can do so only by setting up multi-app Kiosk with Safari as one of the Kiosk apps.
