Speeds troubleshooting via custom query execution and monitoring of virtual log files
AUSTIN, TX, November 09, 2010ManageEngine, makers of a globally renowned suite of cost-effective network, systems, security and applications management software solutions, today announced a series of enhancements to SQLDBManager Plus, the company’s widely-deployed database monitoring software. The new capabilities include monitoring of virtual log file (VLF) metrics; grouping of critical databases; and triggering of customized queries and alarms whenever an unexpected condition is detected.
ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus monitors VLF metrics, such as file size, Start offset and Log Sequence Number (LSN), allowing administrators to immediately understand the cause of any decline in the performance of a particular database. Administrators can also configure a custom query to be associated with any performance metric. In the event of performance degradation, an alarm triggers and the custom query assigned to the alarm is automatically executed. SQLDBManager Plus emails the query results to the database administrator, allowing the administrator to take action immediately.
Using SQLDBManager Plus, organizations can also group critical databases into small logical groups, thus providing a holistic view of the databases in their business environment.
"The new capabilities in ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus help SQL Server database administrators to program their own corrective actions by executing SQL Queries triggered by the performance metrics collected," said Gibu K. Mathew, product manager, Applications Performance Management Solutions at ManageEngine. "This is useful for keeping downtime to a minimum and getting production applications back online quickly."
ManageEngine SQLDBManager Plus is available as a downloadable file for Windows. Pricing starts at $795 for five SQL Server instances. Additionally, a 30-day fully functional trial edition is freely available from the website.
