How to remove Azure Policy Definition using Azure PowerShell?

Description:

Policy definitions describe compliance conditions and what needs to be done if a condition is met. The Remove-AzPolicyDefinition cmdlet removes a policy definitions based on its name or ID.

Syntax:

Remove-AzPolicyDefinition -Name <String> [-Force] [-ApiVersion <String>] [-Pre] [-DefaultProfile <IAzureContextContainer>] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>]

Example: To remove the Azure Policy Definition by name, use the cmdlet given below:

PS C:\> Remove-AzPolicyDefinition -Name 'VirtualMachinePolicyDefinition'

To remove the Azure Policy Definition by resource ID, use the cmdlet given below:

PS C:\> $PolicyDefinition = Get-AzPolicyDefinition -Name 'VirtualMachinePolicyDefinition' PS C:\> Remove-AzPolicyDefinition -Id $PolicyDefinition.ResourceId -Force
