How to use Remove-AzRoleDefinition

Description:

This cmdlet removes a custom role from Azure Active Directory. Azure has built-in roles such as user, group, service principals, and so on. Azure also allows for the creation of custom roles. Each new entity added to Azure has a role assigned to it. This cmdlet will fail if the particular custom role is still assigned to a principal.

PowerShell Syntax:

Remove-AzRoleDefinition -Id <Guid> [-Scope <String>] [-Force] [-PassThru] [-DefaultProfile <IAzureContextContainer>] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>]

Example:

This cmdlet can be used to remove a role definition by its name.

Get-AzRoleDefinition -Name "Name of custom role" | Remove-AzRoleDefinition
