How to modify a policy definition using PowerShell cmdlets.

Description:

Executing this cmdlet, alters a policy definition. The Set-AzPolicyDefinition cmdlet can be used to update the mode, metadata or the description of a policy definition.

Syntax:

Set-AzPolicyDefinition -Name <String> [-DisplayName <String>] [-Description <String>] [-Policy <String>] [-Metadata <String>] [-Parameter <String>] [-Mode <String>] [-ApiVersion <String>] [-Pre] [-DefaultProfile <IAzureContextContainer>] [<CommonParameters>]

Example:

$VMPolicyDefinition = Get-AzPolicyDefinition -Name 'VirtualMachinePolicyDefinition' Set-AzPolicyDefinition -Id $VMPolicyDefinition.ResourceId -Description 'Updated policy to not allow virtual machine creation'

In this example, the Get-AzPolicyDefinition cmdlet gets a policy definition named VirtualMachinePolicyDefinition and stores it in the $VMPolicyDefinition variable. The Set-AzPolicyDefinition cmdlet updates the description of the policy definition. The policy definition is identified by the ResourceId property.
