Object Access » System objects: Strengthen default permissions of internal system objects

What is System objects: Strengthen default permissions of internal system objects setting?

This policy, when enabled, ensures the strength of the default discretionary access control list (DACL) of the shared system resources such as mutexes, semaphores and so on. These objects are globally visible and are used by multiple processes. Though each object is created with a default DACL, enabling this policy strengthens the permissions. It will allow users to access and read the shared object, but not to edit it, if they have not created it. This prevents malicious actors from accessing system objects and editing their properties.

This policy can have the following values:

  • Enabled
  • Disabled
  • Not defined
