What is System settings: Optional subsystems policy?
This policy is used to specify the subsystems that are present on the system. Windows allows the addition of a number of subsystems. However, increasing the number of subsystems can be a security risk as processes started in these subsystems may persist across logons and logoffs. A user may start a process and logout and the next user will be able to access this process started on a specific subsystem by the first user. The second user might also retain the user privileges of the first user, leading to a potential security mishap.
The possible values for this policy:
- User-defined: The user defines a list of subsystems
- Not defined: This policy is not defined.
