GPResult failed with 'Access Denied' error message

Issue:

Unable to update group policy due to GPResult access denied issue.

When does this issue happen?

One of the most common issues encountered during a group policy update is the GPResult access denied error. Typically this issue returns the following message: 'Group Policy Failed. Windows could not evaluate the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)'. A corrupted local WMI repository is usually the cause of this issue.

How to fix this issue?

To resolve this issue, all you have to do is reset the local WMI repository. To do that, perform the following steps.

Step 1: Run the command 'winmgmt /resetrepository'. This will reset the WMI repository.

Step 2: Execute 'gpupdate' to update the group policy.

Step 3: Finally, run the command 'GPResult' and verify what group policy objects have been applied.
