Delayed Management Tasks

    While executing any management action, there are certain tasks that cannot be executed immediately, but executed with a delay. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as the object to be managed not having been created yet. Such tasks will be executed as soon as the relevant object is created. The following example will help you understand what a delayed management task is.

    In Office 365 management, while using the Create Office365 accounts for AD users feature to create an Office 365 account for a user, it will not be possible to immediately assign an email alias, enable or disable litigation hold and in-place archive for the user's mailbox as the mailbox might not have been created yet.

    Tasks like these will be listed under Delayed Management Tasks. ADManager Plus will check periodically if the relevant object is created, and execute the delayed actions once the object is found. You can view all delayed tasks, execute any task immediately whenever you wish to, and also view all failed tasks.

    Steps to view and manage the Delayed Management Tasks:

    • Go to AD Mgmt tab.

    • Click Office 365 management and click the View Delayed Tasks link located in the top right corner of the Office 365 page.

    • In the Delayed Management Tasks page, you will be able to see the list of all delayed tasks, including the ones that have been successfully executed, the failed ones and the ones yet to be executed.

    • Viewing all tasks. Click "All Tasks", and select All Tasks to view all the delayed asks including the ones awaiting execution, the completed ones and also the ones which have failed.

    • Viewing and Managing Failed Tasks. Click "All Tasks", and select Failed Tasks. For each failed task, you will be able to view the:

      • Type of management action attempted.
      • Feature from which this action was initiated (Single user creation, etc.).
      • Execution time and the reason for failure.
      You can pause, resume, retry and delete a failed task.

      You can also reschedule any task to try executing it again after the default delay time of 5 minutes. To reschedule, reschedule icon located in the Action column of the relevant failed task.

      You can also export the list of all delayed task in any format (CSV, PDF, Excel, or HTML), using the Export as option.

    • Viewing and Managing Delayed Tasks. Click "All Tasks", and select Delayed Tasks. For each delayed task, you will be able to view the:

      • Type of action to be performed.
      • Object on which this action will be performed.
      • Feature from which this action was initiated.
      • Status (Scheduled, or Failed and Scheduled).

      You can execute any task in the list of delayed tasks immediately, by clicking the Run Now button located in the Action column of the corresponding task. If needed, you can even cancel the task by clicking the Cancel Task icon located beside the Run Now option.

      You can also export the list of all delayed task in any format (CSV, PDF, Excel, or HTML), using the Export as option.
