Building the right website monitoring strategy

These are the questions asked during Building the right website monitoring strategy training.

FAQ's

  • Is it possible to monitor IIS and Apache via vCenter? Apache monitoring is not dependent on Server (VM) monitoring, so it will work without any issues. However, IIS monitoring is dependent on the WMI credentials configured in the Host Server monitor. Unless the VM is added separately as a Windows Server monitor, website statistics and app pool statistics in IIS monitor will not be available.
  • How do you detect an anonymous user using Applications Manager? IIS provides Anonymous user information. We can capture it using WMI and show it in Applications Manager console.
  • Can Applications Manager be clustered? Applications Manager can't be clustered. However, you can use our Enterprise edition (Central and Probe) for scalability. Our Application server failover will ensure high availability of your systems.
  • Does Applications Manager support penetration testing and vulnerability scanning?3—4We don't support penetration testing and vulnerability scanning as of now. It is possible to monitor transactions using APM Insight.3—4
