Monitor Group Rules

Applications Manager allows you to configure rules that automatically associate monitors with specific monitor groups. This feature is supported in the Professional Standalone edition and the Enterprise edition (both Central and Probe servers).

These rules automate the organization of your infrastructure by grouping monitors based on predefined criteria, reducing the need for manual association.

How to create a new Monitor Group rule:

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab and click Monitor Group Rules in the Alarm/Action table.
  2. Click Add New Rule to open the configuration window.
  3. Enter a Rule Name and a Description.
  4. Select the target Monitor Group from the drop-down list.
  5. Define filter criteriasuch as name or type. For example:
    • Associate monitors where the name is "Win" and the Monitor Type is "Windows 11".
    • Associate monitors where the name contains "192.168.27" or "192.168.26".
  6. The system will automatically assign monitors to the chosen groups based on these rules.
  7. To modify a rule, click the edit or delete icon next to the rule name in the Add New Rule window.

Rule Applicability: These rules apply to monitors added after the rule is created. Existing monitors will only follow these rules if they are updated. Otherwise, the rule does not apply to monitors already present in the system.

Note: Rules created on the Central Server apply to Probe Servers after synchronization. While synchronized rules are read-only on the Probe, you can create and manage local rules directly on a Probe Server. For Professional Standalone installations, all rules are managed locally within the server.
