ManageEngine® SQLDBManager Plus
Using this option, Performance Data collection can be scheduled for the given number of polls. Except for Availability check and health, other performance parameters like memory usage data can be collected at the scheduled number of polls. This would be helpful in decreasing the load on the system of the users who want to monitor availability and health alone.
The default value for data file is every once in an hour. However, you can change this default setting by un-checking the box against Collect SQL Database Data File details once in a hour. SQLDBManager Plus will start collecting data file details during every poll. Similarly, SQLDBManager Plus collects VLF details once in an hour. If you want to collect data during every poll, simply un-check the box against Collect VLF details once in a day.
For example, if the polling interval of a particular sql database server is one minute and the performance data is scheduled to be collected once in five pollings. In this case, the availability of the server is checked every minute whereas the performance data like CPU Memory is collected every five minutes.
Using this option, data collection can be optimized to suit the needs of the DBA. The admin will now be able to customize which polls would collect data that too for specific metrics. This feature adds greater depth to which an admin can customize his reports depending on the granularity of data required. Depending on the metric selected, the DBA will be able to choose between, 'never collect data', 'collect data in every polling', 'collect data in every hour' and 'collect data once in a day' by checking or unchecking the box next to these options.
For example, if 'backup' is the metric chosen and the 'Default Polling Status' is 'collect data once in a day' then polling will happen based on the default rate (once every 10 minutes) but the data will be collected only once a day.
