ManageEngine® SQLDBManager Plus
You can monitor the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) metrics of the SQL Server via SQLDBManager Plus. As the performance of SQL Server is intertwined with that of the host machine, monitoring both gives you a clear idea on what is causing performance degradation.
You can add a SQL Server either using Windows Authentication or SQL Authentication. If the SQL Server is added via Windows Authentication, the host information is added automatically and it becomes easier to pull WMI Performance metrics and display it. This information is displayed under WMI Monitor tab. However, if the SQL Server is added via SQL Server Authentication, then you need to configure host information such as Username, Password, Display (Host) name, etc. Once you configure the host machine details, SQLDBManager Plus starts monitoring the machine critical performance metrics such as memory usage, CPU usage, etc., in addition to WMI performance metrics. If the SQL Server is added manually with host information on it, then the WMI Performance metric will also be configured automatically for the concerned SQL Server monitor.
Add WMI Performance Metrics
Once the host machine details are configured, click on WMI Monitor tab. Click on Add/Delete Attributes and then select the attributes you wish to monitor.
