1. What are the user privileges required for MAPI tasks?

The user entered under the organizational settings page must have a valid mailbox with the following minimum privileges.

2. Gathering Task shows the error message: "Unable to Create MAPI Profile"?

There are two reasons for a user to receive the error message "Unable to create MAPI Profile"

  1. MAPI might not have been Installed on the machine where the product is installed.

  2. Mailbox Not Accessible from the installation machine.

2.1 MAPI might not have been Installed on the machine where the product is installed:

MAPI is required for Exchange Reporter Plus to gather the following data from Exchange Server.

  1. Mailbox Account Properties
  2. Mailbox Content Gathering
  3. Public Folder Properties and
  4. Public Folder Content

MAPI can be installed using any one of the three MAPI providers.(Outlook or MAPI Download   or Exchange System Manager 2003 SP2). Only MAPI Download is supported for Exchange 2010 environments.

  • 64 bit Outlook is not supported by Exchange Reporter Plus.

  • Please ensure that MAPI CDO and Outlook are not installed on the same machine where Exchange Reporter Plus is installed.

  • If Outlook is used as MAPI provider then it should be the default mail client (This can be checked by opening Internet Options in Internet Explorer - Under Programs tab check whether Email points to Microsoft Office Outlook).

2.2 Mailbox Not Accessible from the installation machine:

  1. Verify if the user whose credentials entered for scheduling Data Gathering tasks...
    1. Has a valid MAILBOX which is not hidden from the GAL (Global Address List).
    2. Has logged-on to the designated Mailbox atleast once.
    3. Belongs to one of the following Groups
      • "Exchange View only Administrator Group" if Exchange Server 2003 User

        (or)

      • "Exchange Organizational Administrator Group" if Exchange Server 2007 User (or)
      • "Organizational management Group" if Exchange 2010 User
  2. Check if the "Mailbox Private Store" for the specified server is mounted.
  3. Verify if the "Exchange Server" under consideration is accessible from the machine where Exchange Reporter Plus is installed.
  4. Verify if the "Microsoft Exchange Information Store" and "Microsoft Exchange System Attendant" Services are running from the specified server

3. Gathering Task shows the error message: Unable to find the "Global Catalog Server" for the given Domain?

Ensure that the user credentials provided under "Organizations Settings" is of the below format.

<DOMAIN NAME\USER NAME>

Example: XCHANGE\administrator

Exchange Reporter Plus does not accept "Fully qualified domain name" when finding the Global Catalog Server.

4. Gathering Task shows the error message: "Provide a Mailbox User Credential, present in the Exchange View only Administrator Group"?

To gather Mailbox Account Properties the user whose credentials entered under the "Organizational Settings" page should

  1. Have a valid MAILBOX which is not hidden from the GAL (Global Address List).
  2. Have logged-on to the designated Mailbox atleast once.
  3. Belong to one of the following Groups
    • "Exchange View only Administrator Group" if Exchange Server 2003 User

      (or)

    • "Exchange Organizational Administrator Group" if Exchange Server 2007 User (or)
    • "Organizational management Group" if Exchange 2010 User
If MAPI was installed after configuring the product - Restart Exchange Reporter Plus Application.
