Windows 11 23H2 Feature Pack Deployment

Note
Deployment of Windows 11 23H2 feature pack is supported only in Patch Manager Plus build versions 10.0.147 and above.

Note: For users with Windows 11 version 22H2, it is only required to deploy the Enablement Package patches to upgrade to Windows 11,version 23H2.

Note
The SSP (Self-Service Portal) method is not applicable for performing feature pack upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via Patch Management

Steps to deploy Windows 11 23H2 update

1.Prerequisites

Prerequisites to deploy Windows 11 23H2 updates

  1. Before deployment, run through the Compatibility Check available towards the end of the page, to find if you meet all the minimum requirements that impact upgradeability.
  2. Ensure that feature pack option is enabled under Patch database settings.
    In Patch Manager Plus: Patch Mgmt -> Settings -> Patch Database Settings -> click on the Windows tab and enable the Feature Pack option.
    In Patch Manager Plus: Admin -> Settings -> Patch Database Settings -> click on the Windows tab and enable the Feature Pack option.
  3. Ensure that you have not declined the feature pack updates under Decline Patches.

2.Download and add the dependency patch (ISO file) to the Patch store.

Applicable from build 2605 and above:
Starting from build 2605, manual upload of the ISO file is not mandatory for Feature Pack deployment.
Key Points:
1. Dependency patches will not appear in the “Uploaded Patches” view by default.
2. The system will automatically handle ISO download and deployment during the Feature Pack deployment process.
3. If the ISO download fails, the corresponding dependency patch will appear in the Uploaded Patches view, allowing manual intervention.
4. If a previously uploaded ISO is available, the deployment will continue using the manually uploaded file.
5. If patches were previously uploaded and later deleted for any reason, the dependency patch will not appear in the “Uploaded Patches” view but will be automatically re-downloaded during the next deployment attempt.

Windows 11 version 23H2 Enterprise Edition

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:

  1. Download Windows 11 23H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
  2. If you're using Patch Manager Plus builds 10.1.2282.6 and above:
    • Method 1:
      • Click on Upload near the Download failed error message
      • In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload
      • Choose between the Checksum types (MD5 and SHA256)

      • Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated
      • Once validated, click on Upload
      • Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed
    • Method 2:
      • Navigate to Patches -> Downloaded Patches and search for the necessary patches
      • Click on Upload (under Action)
      • Once the upload windows pops-up, follow the steps mentioned above, to upload the patches
  3. If you're using Patch Manager Plus builds 10.1.2282.6 and above:
    • Method 1:
      • Click on Upload near the Download failed error message
      • In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload
      • Choose between the Checksum types (MD5 and SHA256)

      • Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated
      • Once validated, click on Upload
      • Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed
    • Method 2:

If you're using Patch Manager Plus builds below 10.1.2282.6 and Patch Manager Plus builds below 10.1.2282.6:

    1. Download Windows 11 23H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
    2. Navigate to the patch store: To find patch store location in Patch Manager Plus, navigate to Patch Management -> Downloaded Patches -> Settings -> Patch Repository Location
    3. To find the patch store in Patch Manager Plus, navigate to Patches -> Downloaded Patches -> Settings -> Patch Repository Location
    4. To find the patch store in Patch Manager Plus, navigate to Patches -> Downloaded Patches -> Settings -> Patch Repository Location
    5. Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the patch store directory, and rename the ISO file as given below:

Language-English:

    • 64 Bit: 110951-Win11_23H2_en_enterprisex64.iso
    Note
    The above naming convention is applicable only forWindows 11 23H2 Enterprise edition.

    Note - To deploy Win 11 feature packs in more than one language, check the respective ISO files for each language, download and place them in the patch store.

    Windows 11 version 23H2 - Professional Edition

    Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:

    1. Download Windows 11 23H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
    2. If you're using Patch Manager Plus builds 10.1.2282.6 and above:
      • Method 1:
        • Click on Uploadnear the Download failed error message
        • In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload
        • Choose between the Checksum types (MD5 and SHA256)

        • Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated
        • Once validated, click on Upload
        • Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed
      • Method 2:

      3.Deploy the Windows 11 23H2 updates.

      Manual deployment

      If you are upgrading from Windows 11 version 21H2, refer to the following steps:

        1. In the server web console, navigate to Missing Patches view.
        2. Choose the Windows 11 23H2 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.

      Patch ID details:

        • 110952 - Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
        • 110950 - Other Windows 11 23H2 Editions - 64 Bit

        If you are upgrading from Windows 10, refer to the following steps:

            1. In the server web console, navigate to Supported Patches view.
            2. Choose the Windows 11 23H2 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.

        Patch ID details:

          • 110958 - Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
          • 110956 - Other Windows 11 23H2 Editions - 64 Bit
        1. Click Install Patch to deploy them.

          2. Enablement Package patch ID details:

          Automated Deployment

          1. To create an APD task for deploying Windows 11 updates, make sure to select the Feature Pack check box while defining the patch task.
          2. Once the dependency patch is downloaded and stored in the Patch Store, Feature Packs will be successfully deployed to the target computers during the subsequent deployment window. A separate configuration can be created for the particular patch on demand.
