Oracle Cloud Storage Monitoring

Oracle Cloud offers storage options for organizations and enterprises to store objects, files, and application data at scale. Without visibility into capacity, request rates, latency, and metadata activity, storage issues often surface only after they affect applications. With Applications Manager, you can keep a close watch on the performance and health of your Oracle Cloud storage resources, optimize usage, and resolve issues promptly, giving you a centralized view of your entire Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Applications Manager supports monitoring for the following Oracle Cloud Storage services:

Oracle Cloud File System monitoring

Oracle Cloud File System is a fully managed, shared file storage service in OCI that can be accessed through exports by multiple instances at the same time. Applications Manager's Oracle Cloud File System monitoring provides deep visibility into the availability, throughput, request rates, latency, and metadata activity of each file system, along with its quotas, exports, and snapshots, helping you keep shared file workloads healthy and responsive.

With Applications Manager, you can:

  • Track file system health by monitoring the availability history, performance history, Lifecycle State, and Metered Size of each file system.
  • Measure usage and throughput by monitoring Usage along with Read and Write Throughput.
  • Analyze I/O performance by tracking Read Requests, Write Requests, Read Latency, and Write Latency.
  • Spot slow I/O patterns by breaking down read and write requests and latency by size: 0B to 8KiB, 8KiB to 64KiB, and 64KiB to 1MiB.
  • Monitor metadata activity by tracking Metadata Latency and Metadata IOPs, and drill down into the CREATE, GETATTR, SETATTR, and REMOVE operations to find which one is causing delays.
  • Stay within usage limits by tracking Soft Quota Violations and Hard Quota Violations.
  • Keep track of exports by viewing the Export OCID, Path, Export Set OCID, Creation Date, and Lifecycle State of each export.
  • Keep track of snapshots by viewing the Snapshot Name, Snapshot OCID, Clone Source, Expiry Date, Creation Date, and Lifecycle State of each snapshot.

Oracle Cloud Mount Target monitoring

Oracle Cloud Mount Target is the network endpoint that provides access to Oracle Cloud File Systems. Instances connect to a file system through the exports published on its mount target. Applications Manager's Oracle Cloud Mount Target monitoring provides visibility into the state, throughput, connections, health, and authentication activity of each mount target, helping you make sure your file systems remain reachable and responsive.

With Applications Manager, you can:

  • Track mount target availability by monitoring the Lifecycle State of each mount target.
  • Measure data transfer by monitoring Read Throughput and Write Throughput.
  • Understand client load by tracking the number of Connections to the mount target.
  • Check mount target health by tracking the Health Success Rate and Health Error Rate.
  • Detect authentication problems by tracking Kerberos Errors.
  • Monitor LDAP activity by tracking LDAP Request Throughput, LDAP Connection Errors, LDAP Request Errors, and LDAP Request Latency.
  • Keep track of exports by viewing the Path, File System OCID, Export OCID, Creation Date, and Lifecycle State of each export, and configure alarms for them.

Oracle Cloud Storage monitoring

Oracle Cloud Storage is a storage platform that provides high-performance, scalable, and durable object storage for unstructured data such as images, media files, logs, and backups. Applications Manager's Oracle Cloud Storage monitoring provides insight into the capacity, requests, latency, and objects in the buckets, helping you measure the amount of storage you are using and monitor the performance of requests.

With Applications Manager, you can:

  • Track bucket capacity by monitoring the Number of Objects and Bucket Size.
  • Understand request activity by tracking Total Requests and Total Requests/Min, along with the Get, Head, List, Put, Delete, Rename, Post, Copy, and Archive object request counts.
  • Optimize latency by monitoring the First Byte Latency Time and Overall Latency Time of your requests.
  • Detect problems early by tracking the Client Side Error Count and Incomplete Multipart Upload Size.
  • Identify the objects with the highest storage volume, the most recently uploaded objects, and the number and size of objects grouped under each category.
  • Review bucket configuration details including compartment name, region, storage tier, visibility, and object-level audit mode.
